Emily Lacy is an artist working in various mediums to explore the phenomena of sound. Through music, text, painting, performance, and film, she investigates audible events, and the cultural forces and expectations which shape their potential. Touching on both folk and electronic traditions, her work broadly questions what it means to listen and be heard. Her recordings and live performances have been featured in a wide range of artistic contexts including projects at LACMA, The Hammer Museum, The Whitney Museum of American Art, PS1 MoMa, The Walker Art Center, MCA Chicago, and The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles. In addition, she has recorded nearly 20 albums and toured independent art and music venues all across America.
